The circus
is quiet and the whirr bangers have ceased their hammering of
the night sky with their brutal ear bashing cacophany. The estimated
100,000 crowd rouse themselves from probably drunken slumber
and raise their grubby miens to the morning sky. The morning
is grey with patchy blue sky, warm and pleasently breezy.Practice
starts at 10.15.
First out is The 'Gusbuster' who completes six laps and peels
back the times to the mid 1.40's, next out John McGuinness who
repeats what Gus has just done, with Barty out third. All three
riders are much more impressed with the improved handling. This
appears to be the result of shortening the ride height adjustment.
The concensus of opinion was that the shock was too long. Coupled
with a new 190/70 X 17 Dunlop slick its enabled them all to
lay down more of that horsepower. Everyone is relaxed and feeling
confident.
There are a fair smattering of ZX-10's here, naturally ours
is the best turned out. All hail the pit crew. We are sharing
our garage with Team Almet, should be an interesting comparison,
throughout the race.We will be starting from a relatively lowly
grid position of 38th. But hey we've got 24 long hours to move
up the leaderboard.
The first hello's of the day go to Bentley, Kieran, Emily-May,
Dan Grant, Mary Anne, Julie, Yasmin, Jules and Joe. Tony and
the gang from Chichester (see you at Spa, if not beforehand
at the shop). |
